Sleep is my refuge. My paintings center around rest and the quiet interior spaces we retreat to. Each composition includes a quilt and figures in relaxed, vulnerable poses. I’m drawn to this subject matter because I’ve been sleeping a little too much, and I’ve become fascinated by how sleep can be a sanctuary, a pause, or a way of processing emotion.
Working in acrylic with oil for finishing details, I build each piece through layered washes and poured paint. The poured passages create dreamy atmospheres where forms dissolve into color, inviting the viewer to get lost in the haze the same way one sinks into a dream. The quilts, textured and grounding, become both physical objects and emotional anchors, places where comfort, memory, and vulnerability intersect.
